I understand that life's journey can sometimes present challenges and difficulties that may seem overwhelming. I am here to offer you a safe and compassionate space where you can explore and, untangle your thoughts, emotions, and concerns, and find the support and guidance you need to navigate through life's ups and downs.

I am dedicated and experienced counsellor who is committed to helping you find your inner strength, build resilience, and discover effective strategies for coping with life's complexities. I believe that every individual is unique, and I tailor my counselling approach to meet your specific needs and goals.

Who am I?

I am Julia, a qualified humanistic counsellor, BACP registered, working with adults and young people (16+). Utilising several therapeutic approaches (Person centre, Existential, and Gestalt). My approach is client centred and relational which focuses on your experiences in the here and now. I will be with you on your journey to help you understand yourself and your experiences.

I create a supportive and a non-judgmental accepting environment where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours to enable you to freely express yourself openly and authentically. I will support and help you to gain insight into your experiences and to make positive changes in your life.

What is Humanistic Counselling?

Humanistic counselling is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on the individual's subjective experience and their personal growth. 

It is based on the belief that people are naturally motivated to grow and move towards self-actualisation, which is the realisation of you own full potential. Humanistic counselling emphasises the uniqueness of each person and the importance of self-awareness and self-acceptance. Humanistic counselling approaches include person-centered, gestalt therapy, and existential therapy.

This approach to counselling aims to help individuals develop a greater understanding of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, and to use this understanding to make positive changes in their lives.

How can counselling help?

Counselling can support you to untangle your emotions, feelings and thoughts, and helps process the unprocessed, and unknowing the known.

Counselling can support you to achieve better mental health and life choices. Counselling can provide a deeper understanding of yourself and develop resilience, self-esteem and confidence.

I am able to tailor our work to your individual needs by offering a supportive and non-judgemental space for you to explore your feelings, thoughts and emotions. I have had experience with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, self-esteem, relationship issues, family dynamics, loss and attachment. 

Starting Counselling

Starting counselling may be a daunting, and finding the right counsellor is important. I offer a free 20 minute online conversation, where you can find out more about what is involved, as well as ask any questions you may have, before making a decision. 

You may have questions like 

  • “What shall I say?” 
  • “What is expected from me?” 
  • “Am I saying the right thing?”
  • “What if I can’t attend a session?” 
  • “What happens if I’m not ready?”
  • “What will happen?”

 

All these are natural questions and can be addressed when they present themselves or during the free 20 minute online conversation.

What to expect

You may expect a space where you can talk freely and untangle your thoughts emotions and feelings, it is a space where you are heard in a welcoming and non-judgemental, environment. 

I prioritise your well-being. I am committed to maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and respect, ensuring that you can speak openly and honestly about your concerns without judgment.

During your first session we can explore the reason that bought you to counselling, as well as your expectations and goals. Your first session will provide insight into your world and the world of counselling.

Taking the first step towards seeking counselling is a brave and significant decision, and I am here to support you every step of the way. Together, we can embark on a journey of self-discovery, growth, and healing.

Online Cousnsellig is just as effective as face-to-face, plus you have the added bonus of flexibility, to support remote working patterns, and your daily life.
